Pashmina ( in Nepal pashmina is used interchangeably with cashmere, the US has co-opted the term to mean a style of scarf) is valued for its soft fibers and amazing texture that come from goats raised in the Himalayas. The warp and filler threads in some of these shawls are contrasting colors, which gives the shawl have a shimmery iridescent look, thus the name water shawl.
