Although fragile when stricken, ceramic is a durable good. Ancient illiterate cultures are studied through the ceramic objects found at archeologic sites not only in Peru but around the globe. Quinua is a small Andean town and considered to be a potters’ town, long known for the production of ceramics. Unfortunately, the violence that prevailed in the region during the 1980s relocated many of the craftsmen near Lima, where they continue working on their craft.
